A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”— Luke 6:44-45 (Kjv)
The Word of God reveals an important aspect of our lives that we need to pay a serious attention to. It is the source of our words; “the heart” (our inner man). Every word that comes out of our mouths emanates from deep within us, according to the Word of God.
Note that the things we say, good or bad, are conceived in our inner man; the spiritual side of us. They are not mere words, they are what overflows us. Since these affect us, we need to be mindful of what is filling our hearts. Certainly, we must not allow negative things that do not profit but good and positive things, especially the Word of God.
Matthew 15:18 says “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man”. Here is a helpful solution: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom... And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Col 3:16-17). Remember, Jesus is coming again!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please let my heart be pure in order to pour out blessed words that will build up my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
