“I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens”— Psalm 89:1-2 (Kjv)
Learning from this psalmist, we do not have to give the Lord empty praises. Our praises to God must be meaningful; we must praise Him on purpose. There must be some things we are praising God about. Find reasons to praise the Lord for.
Unlike this psalmist, we may easily think we are ‘praising’ God, when indeed, we are only singing mere songs which do not really mean anything to us. Before the Lord, that may not even qualify for “praise”! His song was mainly about the mercies of God, of which he was purposed to sing, lasting through all generations. This song is still with us today. So can we praise the Lord.
The question is, how do you see praise? What goes into your praising God? Is it merely singing and dancing or you really want to praise Him? For your praises to be real, remember what the Lord has done, and with all your heart praise Him meaningfully. Find good reasons to praise God. You can even praise Him over your needs and challenges because you know He is able to deal with them. May you never lack praises for the Lord. Remember, Jesus is coming again!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, today I am full of praise for You because You have shown me mercy and done so much for me. I will continually praise You for Your goodness to me. Amen and Amen!
