“But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach”— Romans 10:6-8 (Kjv)
A major means by which we release what we want to communicate is through our mouths. Now, we should not think we are just talking, any time we open our mouth. From what we learn from the scriptures, we have the capability to release good or deadly things; by what proceeds from our mouths.
Our emotional state, unknown to us, impacts the things we say. For instance, when confused or sad, we may not likely pay attention to what is coming out of us. Depressed ones release what may even worsen their plight. Others utter curses (consciously or not) when they are angry. Even in excitement, a careless talk can ensnare one. Many have gotten into trouble just by what they said.
So what is the way out of for us? What do we have to say in our exciting times, or in our low moments; when we are caught up in serious situations? The Word of God shows us the way to let our mouths stay clear of trouble. It is by loading our utterances with the Word. Thus, it is important to familiarize yourself with the Word of God so you can enrich your utterances with it, more so in bad times. The life in the Word turns things around. It saves you. Jesus is coming again!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I ask for the ability to constantly fill my spirit with Your Word so I can enrich my words with the Word of life. Please help me to guard my mouth with diligence, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
