“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers”— Ephesians 4:29 (Nkjv)
These scriptures are opening up to us, as God’s people, regarding our communication to others. We are being admonished to consciously choose our words to benefit our hearers. This is another Christian obligation we owe others.
Judging from these words, it is needful for us Christians especially, to always consider the grace element in our speech. That means we cannot just say anything anyhow. There are words that carry grace and there are those that do not. There are those that bless and those that do not edify our fellows.
Since this is necessary, we are being directed to train ourselves in how we present issues. That means it is possible for all to learn how to speak appropriately; to release grace and other blessings. We may have to do away with our “usual way of speaking”, which to us, may be ‘normal’. There is nothing more beneficial than a graceful speech. May grace abound. Jesus is coming soon!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I ask to be filled with grace that overflows so my speech in communication will be full of grace to edify all I address, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
