Declare Long Life

This psalmist, believed to be David, has shown us a great revelation we can live our own lives by. He discovered a powerful key to long life; he was inspired to extend his own life by the declarations of his mouth. Indeed, he did not die in the face of Saul’s and other threats but survived to declare the praises of the Lord. He wrote and sang a lot of the psalms.

His own son Solomon testified after him in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”. He disclosed a mystery; there is actually power in our tongue to shorten or lengthen our lives! That means by what we say, we can continue living or end our lives. So watch your tongue carefully and declare life.

Our Lord Jesus Christ confirmed this same truth by his own words in John 10:17-18 - “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again”. He died when He said “It is finished”. “Father into your hand I commit My spirit”! Paul did the same thing when he declared that he would rather live than die (Phil 1:23-25). He lived till seventy, when he declared “I have finished my course” (2 Tim 4:7). Then he was beheaded! Declare life and live. Remember, Jesus is coming soon!
